Buchan, John

Scrittore e uomo politico scozzese (Perth 1875 - Montreal 1940). Nel 1907, socio della casa editrice Th. Nelson and Sons, poi direttore dell'Agenzia Reuter. Nel 1935 fu nominato governatore generale del Canada e creato Lord Tweedsmuir. Ha scritto una History of the Great war (4 voll., 1921-22), romanzi di avventure (The watcher by the treshold, 1902; Prester John, 1910; The thirty-nine steps, 1915; Greenmantle, 1916; Huntingtower, 1922; The three hostages, 1924) e biografie (Montrose, 1928; Sir Walter Scott, 1932; Cromwell, 1934).
